Nuria González Alcaide (Barcelona, ES) is an abstract visual artist whose practice revolves around painting, with a focus on paper, textiles, wood, and installation as part of her research. Her work investigates color from theoretical, sensory, and visual perspectives, as she explores the profound questions surrounding the accumulation of past thoughts and unspoken words.
Her process is characterized by classification, whether of images, objects, routines, or processes, and she is deeply intrigued by language and its pervasive influence in daily life. Music’s connection to color is another central theme. She examines the structures shaping society, including how history, culture, and environment influence the ways in which people see, think, and communicate.
Nuria presented a solo public presentation at Kunstwerk Kolderveen in the Netherlands (2024) and has participated in group shows internationally, including Be Alpha (Milan, IT), x+y Fivefields (London, UK), and Fondazione Amedeo Modigliani (Venice, IT). Her work is included in private collections in the UK, managed by Artiq (London), and some of her pieces were selected by Amazon for their Fire Screensaver TV project (2023).
She has completed several international residencies, highlighting Kunstwerk Kolderveen (NL), Duplex AIR (PT), GlogauAir (DE), and the online BONFIRE program. Recently, she collaborated with U.S. based contemporary dancer Kim Karpanty on a project that merged costume and sculpture.
Nuria recently finished a five month residency in Berlin, where she developed a new body of work.
